Welcome back to 50 Mason Social House with this month’s guest: Even Taylor
Even Taylor: (7-8pm)
Candace Roberts: (8:15-9:30)
I’m exalted to be sharing the evening with this rare bird of a talent, Even Taylor. Her debut performance was singing “A Whole New World” from the Aladdin Soundtrack in the 3rd grade talent show at Quincy Elementary. She then went on to do much more elaborate representations of Disney songs from such classics as “Beauty and The Beast” and “The Little Mermaid,” before she moved on to covering pop-hits of the early 90’s, such as “Save the best for Last” by Vanessa Williams. She was sure to include seductive gestures of downward-moving, flickering fingers during the lyric “sometimes the snow comes down in June” and a circular spin of the wrist during “ sometimes the sun goes ‘round the moon.” It took Even Taylor 10 years of singing to really find her own voice and to unearth her own songs, and to develop the courage to sing them. She is currently recording her first much anticipated collection of songs at Studio DSE in Oakland, California (recently opened by engineer Remco Vanderheide).
I host a regular monthly gig at 50 Mason Social House. It is the first Wednesday of every month from 7-10 pm featuring performances by “moi” and various musical guests. Stay tuned for more shows at 50 Mason Social House!
